The whole world is rebooting its traditional way of functioning to ring in the newly introduced covid lifestyle. The pandemic has unveiled to reform age old practices and proceed towards a fresh lifestyle as it is a hint for a revolution which was definitely the need of the hour.

Apparently, months of spending in isolation and cutting away from human interaction has made people find distinct ways to reestablish engagement and collaboration. One of the worst hits of all is children who are still trying to cope up with the different mechanisms of learning within an enclosed space. However, if we look at it positively these has been a blessing in disguise to bring a change from the old fashioned educational practices.

School officials have considered this as a chance to overhaul the design of school as the COVID-19 lays the idea for a major conversion in learning spaces.

Around 135 educational professionals across the world are of the opinion that education spaces will never be the same again in order for students to sink in with the prescribed practices.

This is an opportunity to shift from the traditional norms and engage in we work style co working spaces.

The long term solution to integrate covid proof spaces is to switch to blended learning. It values both traditional and digital learning and takes out substance from both forms of pedagogy and presents a hybrid style. In future, students would be able to make use of both style of learning which targets towards a global audience and make children cope up with the new normal.

The underutilized spaces can be extended for educational purposes in order to accommodate large number of students. Some officials agree that many owners have wasted money on vanity projects or glittery architectural designs due to which many spaces are not utilized to its best purpose. This seems to be an ideal way to extend areas which offers students a place to unleash their 21st century curricular skills.

The short term solution is to reduce density of children in every space. Some schools have already begun to transform sports halls or canteens into makeshift learning spaces. Other elements also include, antimicrobial materials for desks and door handles, touch less toilets, isolation rooms for children as well as staff showing symptoms of coronavirus and sir filters.

Age appropriate graphics in floors and walls to remind children to wash their hands and maintain social distancing rules would be favorable. Interiors could be made flexible with foldable walls to provide multi –purpose spaces and movable furniture with book cases.

The sooner we design covid proof learning spaces, the sooner we can get children back in school at great numbers. The covid-19 is a wake- up call for education to reinvigorate academic institutions from scratch to give a new definition to post pandemic learning.
